Jalapenos rate between 2,500 8,000 SHU, Red Thai Peppers between 40,000 50,000 SHU, and Purple Super Hots between 140,000 160,000 SHU. SHU is the Scoville Heat Unit which is a measurement of capsaicin (the stuff that makes peppers hot!).
